March…bringing the migration of the birds. Many will make long, arduous, and sometimes dangerous journeys to survive and thrive. And as man eats up more and more of their habitat, this journey becomes even more hazardous. It’s like the canary in the cave; if they cannot thrive here…neither can we.
So put out feeders, water, native plants and nesting cover and give them a prayer on their way:
MAY YOUR WINGS BE STRONG AND YOUR FEATHERS CLEAN
MAY YOU AVOID THE CLAWS OF THE PREDATOR AND THE GUNS OF THE HUNTER
MAY YOU FIND ALL THE FOOD YOU NEED AND A GOOD PLACE TO SLEEP AT NIGHT
AND MAY WE MEET AGAIN IN HALF A YEAR
WHEN YOUR TRAVELS BRING YOU BACK HERE
